Notice regarding Sunday services at St. John:

In late spring of 2026, St. Peter’s & St. John jointly made the decision to no longer hold regular Sunday services at St. John effective September of that same year.

You are welcome to join us for worship at either:

• St. Peter’s Lutheran Church at 10:30am (this service has a children's message, and the service is available on Zoom)

•    Resurrection Lutheran Church in Orleans at 1:00pm

Founded in 1895 as a German Lutheran congregation, St. John is one of Ottawa’s oldest Lutheran churches.  Over the years it served its local community, hosting at various times the Boy Scouts, a community playgroup and a community youth choir.  It provided visitation, monthly services and a Christmas morning service at the Garry J. Armstrong Center.  It also supported Partage Vanier, the local food bank, and continues to support the food bank and other local charities in partnership with St. Peter's.  Its service to others beyond Canada included refugee sponsorship and building a well and a school in Liberia.  St. John provided many donations, both financial and in-kind (such as school kits, bandages, quilts and clothing) to Canadian Lutheran World Relief.
